Kevin Dowkes
General Manager / Principal
Kevin graduated from the University of Victoria in Mechanical Engineering in 1997 and has
been specializing in steel fabrication ever since. After two years working with Interior Mill
Equipment as a junior engineer, Kevin left to travel the world, returning to Grand Forks to
continue his career with Unifab in February of 2000. Kevin’s initial role of engineering
evolved to include engineering & project management, sales, and marketing. He has been a
key individual in expanding Unifab's capacity several times over.
After becoming a major shareholder with Unifab, Kevin has taken over general managerial
duties. As the General Manager he has seen Unifab become firmly established as the best and
largest custom steel fabrication facility in the Kootenay/Boundary region of British Columbia.
Kevin’s and Unifab’s vision is a shared one – continued success which is founded on a safe
work environment, superior quality, customer relationships, and being an excellent corporate
citizen.
Kevin is an avid golfer and enjoys all sports and outdoor activities. He is proud to call Grand
Forks home, and looks forward to raising his family here. |

Rob Stavenjord
Operations Manager / Principal
Rob joined Unifab in 2000 when he assumed the role of Manager for the retail side of the
business. Under Rob’s leadership sales grew substantially and reached over one million per
year. Although Unifab continued to grow and succeed, the local forest industry in the area did
not. With the industrial customer base depleted, Unifab slowly phased out the retail portion of
their business. As the fabrication side of Unifab grew, Rob made a transition to operations and
project management. Now, a major shareholder in Unifab, Rob is the Operations Manager – a
role which also includes responsibility for human resources, safety, and shop scheduling.
Although Rob’s initially recognized talent was in the trades, he quickly acquired a taste for
accounting and management while working with a local industrial electrical company. Rob was
in his second year of his CGA / course when the company dramatically downsized due to losing
some key contracts. Rob made a transition to a welding and fabricating tool supply company
where he succeeded in sales and account management while gaining knowledge and
experience in the industrial fabrication industry.
Rob is active in the outdoors and community, especially within local sports organizations. Rob
is a lifetime resident of the area where he and his wife are raising their young family. |

Sean Irg, P. Eng
Project Manager / Engineering
Sean has been with Unifab since June of 2008, joining us after leaving the role of manager for
an engineering consulting firm. He left that role to assume the lifestyle of the Okanagan and
Kootenay region of BC. His career experience is entirely in engineering and project
management for heavy industry. That experience is equally split between being on site or in
the office. He now brings that experience to our shop and our customers. Having been on the
side of our client base for so long, he brings unique experience and skills in helping us to
improve our scope of supply and services to our clients.
Sean began his engineering career as a junior engineer in a paper mill. Already a skilled
mechanical designer before he started his engineering schooling, Sean made a quick transition
to becoming the lead mechanical engineer for an area of the mill. Seeking to diversify his
career and skill set from one industry, Sean became an engineering consultant and worked with
two major consulting firms in Vancouver. He rose in the ranks of engineering and project
management, eventually taking on the challenging task of opening and sustaining a new office
in Northern BC.
When Sean is not at work, you won’t find him at home either. He’ll be hiking the backcountry,
skiing or snowboarding, or fishing one of the local lakes or streams. |

Dave Rezansoff
Project Manager
Dave joined Unifab in June of 2008 and is our senior project manager. Dave’s seasoned
industrial and fabrication experience complimented by his sharp eye on budgets and details
have really added a depth to this role that we were previously lacking.
Dave started his career in manufacturing with local sawmills. Seeking to enhance his skill set,
he left that line of work and acquired a diploma in mechanical design. For a few years he
worked in an aerospace design and manufacturing firm in Vancouver. For family and lifestyle
reasons, Dave left and came back to his hometown of Grand Forks where he joined Interior Mill
Equipment as a mechanical designer. Changes within Interior Mill Equipment led Dave to set
out on his own. Aside from a short duration of working at a local particle board facility, Dave
had been continually busy as a contract designer/detailer for years. His natural sense for
working with trades people, design personnel, and suppliers has allowed for him to develop and
specialize his role into that of a project manager. Dave’s local reputation for project success,
detail, and integrity was key in Unifab seeking to have him join their team.
Dave has lived most of his life in the Grand Forks area. He and his wife raised their family
here. |

Ted Hamill
Business Development/ Project Management
Ted’s efforts have been a key factor in Unifab further establishing itself as a highly recognized
fabrication company to industrial customers east of British Columbia. Ted joined Unifab after a
long and successful tenure with an international HVAC company and brings a wealth of
industrial experience that is directly relevant to Unifab’s current expertise and business
direction.
Ted began his career as a sheet metal tradesman. With his drive, expertise, and natural
understanding of the big picture, without the sacrifice of details, Ted moved into the roles of
project management and estimating. Building upon his natural way of being a solutions
provider, Ted became very proficient in business development and customer relations. |
